STJFL Committees

Ethics Committee

The responsibility of the ethics committee is to investigate violations of league rules or the code of conduct and make recommendations to the board for action. There are five STJFL board members on the ethics committee that are appointed each year during the elections.

Members:

  1. Ryan Ross - PNG (Chairman)
  2. Demond Fisher- Port Arthur (Vice Chairman)
  3. Jeremey Harrington - Vidor
  4. Kesha Fontenot - Hamshire- Fannett
  5. Mike Moore - Bridge City

All complaints must go to the local association. The local association must approve or deny the complaint and then the STJFL rep submits the complaint with supporting documentation to the ethics board and President. Any complaint going straight to the ethics committee will automatically be denied and not discussed by the ethics committee. If the complaint is against the STJFL President, then it must be directed to the Vice President. The committee is required to review all appeals but not required to take any action unless the majority feels there is sufficient evidence to warrant the appeal.

The Ethics Committee will not apply authority in cases of complaints by clubs or members concerning judgmental errors or routine errors of omission by game officials. Games involving such complaints will continue to stand as completed.

Certain events will automatically be reviewed by the ethics committee:

First Ejection/Violation:

Player: If a minor is ejected from an STJFL event by a board member or game official the member will receive an automatic suspension from any STJFL Sponsored Event. The player Cannot participate in any STJFL Sponsored Event including Practice, game or special event. The player will be allowed to return on the Monday after the next scheduled game. Probation will be imposed for the remainder of the season. The ethics committee will review the incident for further board action When a minor is ejected they must immediately leave the playing field but may remain in the spectator area.

Adult Ejections - If an adult is ejected from an STJFL event by a board member or game official the member will receive an automatic suspension from any STJFL Sponsored events. The adult Cannot participate in any STJFL Sponsored Event including Practice, game or STJFL Event. The adult will be allowed to return on the Monday after the next 2 scheduled games. Probation will be imposed for the remainder of the season. The ethics committee will review the incident for further board action. When an adult is ejected they must immediately leave the premises.

Second Ejection/Violation:

Player: If a minor is ejected from an STJFL event a Second time in the same season by a board member or game official the member will receive an automatic suspension from any STJFL Sponsored Event. The player Cannot participate in any STJFL Sponsored Event including Practice, game or special event. The player will be allowed to return on the Monday after the next 2 scheduled games. Probation will be imposed for the remainder of the season. The ethics committee will review the incident for further board action. When a minor is ejected they must immediately leave the playing field but may remain in the spectator area.

Adult Ejections - If an adult is ejected from an STJFL event a Second time in the same season by a board member or game official the member will receive an automatic suspension from any STJFL Sponsored events. The adult Cannot participate in any STJFL Sponsored Event including Practice, games or STJFL Event. The adult will be allowed to return on the Monday after the next 4 scheduled games. Probation will be imposed for the remainder of the season. The ethics committee will review the incident for further board action. When an adult is ejected, they must immediately leave the premises.

*Ejections that over lap seasons will comence the Monday of week 1 and serve the duration of the suspension

*Lopsided Games - Any game with a point differential greater than 40 will be reviewed by the Ethics Committee to ensure all mercy rules and the code of conduct was followed.

*If there is a 28 point differance at half the STJFL official can make a discussion for a running clock

*The STJFL President may allow or extend a suspension on an individual if recommended by the ethics committee chair if more time is needed for investigation or to present action to the STJFL board.


Association Committee

The Association Committee is a liaison between the STJFL and all STJFL associations. The committee will assist associations in interpreting league rules and guidelines. The committee also has the responsibility to keep records and documents that associations are required to provide to the STJFL. There are five STJFL board members on the association committee and it is appointed each year during the elections.

The Association Committee will assist new associations or boards adhere to the policies and by-laws of the STJFL.

The Association Committee also monitors the registration process and team drafts of all STJFL associations.
